Class Information
My name is Heidi Garcia, and I am honored with the privilege of being a Millville School teacher! I was raised in Santa Cruz, where my first classroom was the great outdoors. Majestic views of the ocean and wooded mountains etched on my heart the importance and impact of nature. During middle school, my family moved to Monte Sereno, a small town located in the foothills above Los Gatos, where I finished middle and high school.
The incredible beauty of Mount Shasta and pristine lakes of Shasta County helped me make the decision to move to Redding to attend Simpson University. I earned my B.A., teaching credential, Masters in Education, and Administrative Services Credential all at Simpson University.
I have taught grades spanning from ETK to 12th grade as a classroom teacher, and have also been an interim high school counselor, and a crisis counselor for Shasta County Women’s Refuge.
My favorite sport is snorkeling, and those formidable years spent playing the ocean lead me to eventually move to Hawaii where I taught 1st grade- and snorkeled a lot! In addition to a love for the ocean and islands, I love to listen to music, bake, cook, spend time with family and friends, enjoy reading, gardening, art, exploring nature and traveling.
My love for learning has never been quenched and it is my upmost desire to fan the flames of curiosity and wonder in each student. I think school is a place where every child can excel and find his/her special place in this beautiful, vast world, and I thank you for the opportunity to teach your child.
