Millville School is fortunate in that its teaching staff is an exceptionally gifted and extraordinarily talented group of professionals. All of Millville’s teachers utilize an array of identified Best Practices when delivering lessons and assuring students learn. This highly qualified staff includes three teachers who were selected as “Shasta County Teacher of the Year” and are a fundamental reason Millville School was granted the California Distinguished School Award twice.

My family moved to Redding when I was 3 years old and I have been in the area ever since. I graduated from Enterprise High School in 2000 and then attended Shasta College. In 2003 I transferred to Chico State University and received my teaching credential in 2007. In 2008, I married my high school sweetheart Ryan and children arrived shortly after. In 2010 Marina was born and Macey followed in 2012. During this time I substituted for many years in all grades K-12. I have always had a passion for technology and in 2015 I went back to school and got a second credential to teach computer applications for grades K-9. After 2 years of teaching technology. I have gone back to what made me want to be a teacher, kindergarten. My kindergarten teacher had such a huge impact on me at such a young age. I have such vivid memories of my time spent in her class. I truly believe she laid the foundation for me to enjoy school and the importance of learning. I hope I can do the same for one of my students one day. My family and I are so excited to be a part of a wonderful school. When not at school you can find our family enjoying the outdoors. We love camping and boating. I love being on the water so much I named my first born Marina! My family enjoys wake boarding and tubing on our beautiful lakes. Maybe we will see you on the water!

1ST gRADE

Hi, My name is Katie Stuckey and I am very excited to join the amazing teaching staff here at Millville Elementary School. I was born and raised in Redding California, and most of my time growing up was spent participating in creative hobbies such as dance, music, and art.  I graduated from U-prep and attended Shasta College obtaining my associate degree in social sciences. While in college, I worked as an instructional aide, supporting students in a range of grade levels from kindergarten all the way through 8th grade. I then spent four years working with students with disabilities, as an aide in a special education classroom. My experience working with these children changed my life and made it very clear to me that I wanted to pursue a career in education. I transferred to Chico State, where I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in liberal studies. From there, I enrolled in the credential program at Simpson University to pursue my goal of becoming a teacher. Since being hired at Millville Elementary, I have been welcomed with open arms by all staff, students, and families, and I am very thankful to have the opportunity to teach in such a welcoming and supportive environment. ​

lORI wOODWARD
2ND gRADE

I was born and raised in the Anderson/Palo Cedro area. I attended Junction Elementary School and Anderson High School. I was very active in the Future Farmers of America and received my American Farmer Degree. I raised cattle for my FFA project, and still enjoy raising them today. I also have fun training my border collies and entering a few stock dog trials. Horseback riding is one of my favorite past-times.
With my agriculture background, teaching at Millville is a perfect fit for me. I love looking out the window at the cows and horses. The families are fantastic, and I can usually relate to the students’ interests since I love animals, hunting, fishing, and quad riding. There always seems to be a few students from Millville with similar interests.
This will be my 27th year teaching at Millville and I’m looking forward to it as if it were my first! I am a strong believer in the growth mindset approach to learning, and I enjoy learning right along with my students everyday.

I was born in Woodland California and grew up in Merced, a small town in the Central Valley. I attended Merced College, Stanislaus State University and Fresno State University. After volunteering at my children’s schools, I decided to pursue a career in teaching and returned to Stanislaus State to complete my teaching credential. My three beautiful and talented daughters are now grown up. My oldest, Megan, lives and works in Brooklyn New York. My middle daughter, Chloe is a nanny in Portland Oregon. My youngest daughter, Jessica, is attending college at the University of Nevada, Reno. My husband and I have always loved Northern California and were thrilled to have the opportunity to move to Redding last summer. We enjoy camping, hiking and spending time outdoors with our dog. I am happy to be a part of the wonderful staff at Millville School

sAMANTHA bAUTISTA
4TH gRADE

I was born in Salinas, California. I spent my early childhood living just down the street from mission San Jaun Bautista. When I wasn’t spending my days running through the courtyards of the mission, I was on excursions to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. To this day those are still my favorite places on earth. When I was twelve I moved to Artois to live with my grandparents. After graduating from high school, I enrolled at Butte College as a musical theatre major. Though performing is one of my greatest joys, I discovered that is wasn’t the career for me. By this point I had been working in outdoor education for two years and had developed a fondness for teaching. So, I put aside performing and school to work in outdoor education full time. It was there in the woods surrounded by captivated children that I found my true calling. My next big move was to go back to college. I enrolled at Shasta College and shortly after got a job at Millville Elementary school as an aide. I finished my education at Chico State with a short interlude at Brighton University in England. After graduating I was a substitute teacher for a year before getting my first teaching job at Rocky Point Charter School. I worked there for three years, teaching 5th and 6th grade, before deciding is was time to come home to Millville. So here I am, in my second year. I currently teach the 3/4 combo, and I am ever so happy to be here. ​

aNNETTE gADDY
5TH gRADE

Hello! This is my 18th year teaching 5th grade at Millville Elementary School and I have enjoyed every moment of it. I’m so excited to be a part of the Millville teaching staff and love working with all students, whether it’s inside or outside the classroom.
I was born in Redding, CA and graduated from Central Valley High School in 1989. I attended Shasta College for two years and while there I competed in basketball, cross country, and volleyball.  From there, I transferred to Chico State where I obtained to BA Degree in Liberal Studies.
My first two year of teaching were at Upper Lake High School where I taught sophomores all day, in a self-contained class. Yes, I did learn a lot from that experience.  The following year my family moved back to Redding where I taught a sixth grade class at Shasta Lake Elementary. I also coached soccer and basketball for Shasta Lake Elementary and enjoyed everything about it.
I married my high school sweetheart, Brian, who is a high school science teacher for Shasta Union High School District. Together we have three adult children who graduated from college and are married to their college sweethearts. I have four grandchildren who I absolutely adore and love to spend all my time with. It’s such a blessing.
My favorite thing to do is spending time with my family, but if I’m not doing that I’m either running, kayaking, biking or tandem biking, camping, traveling, or just relaxing on the beach. I love the beach!  I look forward to the years ahead. Go Roadrunners!

pAUL bURBANK
6TH gRADE

Although my father was (and still is) a superb teacher, teaching never really enticed me at an early age. I was bound to be an artist and left California to study graphic design and illustration in a private university in Arkansas. While home for the summer after my freshman year of university, I worked as a counselor, outdoor instructor and cabin parent in a camp for underprivileged youth in Susanville, California. Those ten weeks would revolutionize my future studies and life’s journey as I was internally compelled to switch majors and become a teacher.
Throughout the next 4 years of university, I was privileged to teach and live in Vietnam and Africa. After graduating from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with an Elementary Education Teaching Credential, I was eagerly off to teach abroad and “continue” my education ultimately experiencing life outside the United States.
For the next 5 years I lived and taught in various educational settings in Beijing, China. From the high mountains of Tibet to the crowded cities of Shang Hai and Hong Kong, the precious Chinese people opened my eyes to the beauty of their tradition, diversity and culture. I am so thankful for all that I learned in China as it has opened my eyes to the incomparable opportunities an American education affords our children when compared with the rest of the world.
You might see me hiking one of the many breathtaking trails around Shasta County, or swimming and splashing in one of the area’s refreshing lakes with my four boys in tow.  Right now, having a lunch in the park, playing basketball, building Lego contraptions, or participating in laser tag is one of the many favorite activities we love doing together.
As I begin my 16th year teaching at Millville, I am excited and grateful to serve and assist the exceptional students, parents and staff here at Millville Elementary School in continuing to fulfill its goal…”Millville Elementary School, A great place to learn.”

7th gRADE

I grew up locally and am a proud Millville Elementary alumni who attended Millville Kindergarten through 8th grade before going to Foothill High School. After high school I headed south where I got my bachelors at University of California Santa Barbara. While I enjoyed being by the beach, there is no place like home, so I returned to Redding and received my teaching credentials from Simpson University. This upcoming school year will be my fifth year of teaching. I am elated to return to Millville, I have missed the tight community and amazing parent support that helps form strong independent students.
I have an amazing husband and daughter who fill my day with pride and joy. We enjoy being outdoors whether that be hiking, horseback riding, or taking walks around the local park. Most weekends you will find me playing softball out at big league dreams or out on the lake enjoying time around nature. During the winter when the weather is awful I enjoy cozying up to the fireplace with a great book to read or a notebook to write in.

William Hutt
8th gRADE

I was born and raised in Redding, graduated from Enterprise High School and spent two years attending Shasta College. After getting married in 1986 I joined the U.S. Air Force and spent time on the East Coast and overseas. At the end of my enlistment, my wife and I moved back to Redding and I went to work in management and sales. After attaining my teaching credential through Simpson College, I worked in the Cascade District until coming to Millville in 2002. The students and staff at Millville have become a second family. I consider it an honor to be a teacher at Millville and love the tight community and strong parent support which fosters a “student first” attitude here. 
The greatest pride and joy in my life is my family. My wife owns and directs a local preschool. We have two wonderful children, a daughter and a son, and the sweetest grandchildren ever. Sunday dinner with the family is the highlight of the week. 
For fun I enjoy reading, shooting and hunting, camping, 4-wheeling, travel, and have a hobby/side business laser engraving. Most weekends you will find me puttering around my shop, engraving on something, welding something, or playing amateur mechanic or gunsmith. ​
